Empowering Students through Computer training

In today’s fast-evolving digital age, basic computer knowledge has become not just a skill but a necessity. To bridge the digital divide between rural and urban areas, a Computer Training Program was launched in March 2024 in Besariya village, under Keredari Block, Barkagaon, District Hazaribag. This initiative has been made possible through the CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) efforts of BGR Mining and Infra Ltd., and is being implemented on ground by YUVA Organization. The program currently serves a batch of 80 students, who are enrolled in the Diploma in Computer Application (DCA) course. This course has been carefully chosen because it offers a strong foundation in digital literacy. Students learn how to use essential software like Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, basic internet functions, email usage, and an introduction to programming. These skills are highly relevant in today’s job market and even for higher education. Building Skills and Confidence: For many students, this is their first exposure to structured computer education. Coming from rural backgrounds, some had never used a computer before. Through regular classes and hands-on practice, students are becoming more confident, not only in operating computers but also in understanding how these tools can be useful in everyday life—from online forms and digital banking to educational platforms and job applications. The DCA course helps improve not just technical knowledge but also supports overall mental sharpness, logical thinking, and communication. Students are taught in a friendly and practical environment, which encourages them to ask questions, experiment, and grow. A Step Toward Self-Reliance: Digital skills today are directly linked to self-reliance. Through this program, young boys and girls from Besariya and surrounding areas are being empowered to pursue better education, employment opportunities, and even self-employment in the future. With access to computer literacy, they are now a step closer to becoming active participants in the digital economy. Long-Term Vision with Annual Renewal: One of the key strengths of this program is its long-term vision. Since its launch in March 2024, the program has been designed to continue on an annual renewal basis. This ensures that year after year, new batches of students will get the opportunity to benefit from this training. The ongoing support from BGR Mining and Infra Ltd. under CSR, and the implementation by YUVA, makes this initiative a sustainable and valuable contribution to rural development. Conclusion: This training program is a small but meaningful step toward creating a digitally aware and skilled generation in rural Jharkhand. With each batch of students gaining computer knowledge, the foundation for a brighter, more connected future is being laid. YUVA remains committed to facilitating such efforts that bring real change at the grassroots level—with humility, dedication, and a focus on long-term impact.
